Language Cluster of Institut Teknologi Del (IT Del) held its routine competition, Scrabble Competition for Lecturers and Staf IT Del as a part of activities to meet Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi standard from 22 until 23 November 2016 in Room 512 and MDU.
This competition aims to boost English vocabulary and tighten the bond among lecturers and staffs. This scrabble game was held through 3 eliminations and ended with a final. The schedule for the competition was as follows:
1. Elimination I, II and III on Tuesday, 22 November 2016 from 17.30 to 19.00 WIB at Room 512.
2. Final on Wednesday, 23 November 2016 from 15.00 to 16.00 WIB at MDU.
The number of participants who registrated were 33 orang, consisting of lecturers and staffs from various units, however, those finally really playing in the competition from the start, the first elimination were 27 due to some business that they could not really delay or avoid. The 27 participants then were grouped into 7 scrabble boards; 6 boards consisted of 4 players, while 1 board was made up 3 gamers. The gamers played using 1 scrabble board and compete each other for 30 minutes, except for final when the groups competed each other for 45 minutes to reach the highest scores. The players in the second round furthermore were grouped into 4 boards. Two of the four boards consisted of 4 players, but the other two were 3 players for each. Likewise, two gamers with the two highest scores respectively went on to the third round or semifinal.
The players reaching the finish in the Semi Final went back for the final competition to win the First Winner, the Second Winner, the Third Winner and Runner Up I positions. The Final Scrabble For Lecturers and Staff November 2016 was held on Wednesday, 23 November 2016 in MDU (in front of SAM’s and ANA’s office) between 15.00 and 16.00.
The winners of Scrabble For Lecturers and Staff 22-23 November 2016 competition were:
Yuniarta Basani The First Winner with score 116
Yohanssen Pratama The Second Winner with score 79
Yohannes Roche The Third Winner with score 65
Tulus P. Simanjuntak RUNNER UP I with score 59
Before the final closed, the Committee handed the winners the certificates and special gifts for each of them: The first winner was awarded the genuine Adidas bag, the second winner got back sling bag, the third winner was prized with genuine Puma hat and the first runner up was awarded a genuine bag. The committee also invited Vice Rector II of Students and Academics Dr. Arnaldo M. Sinaga to give the presents and certificates for the winners as well as a brief congratulations remark to them. After the gifts and certificates awarding all committee members and the winners as well as the first vice rector had their photos taken.
