Today, fresh graduates starting to enter into professional realm must conquer more and more challenges. The university graduates must be well-equipped to prepare themselves for so high competition in workplace. For the reason, Career Development Center of Institut Teknologi Del held a seminar under the theme, “Preparation For Workplace”.
Career Development Center of Institut Teknologi Del invited Milton V Siahaan, IT Del alumni class of 2002 now working as Senior Sales Manager VMware as the keynote speaker together with Deni Lumbantoruan, IT Del lecturer who has much dealt with industries for building cooperations. The seminar was conducted on Friday, 18 November 2016 in Room 722 Institut Teknologi Del with all IT Del’s final-year students joining it.
Milton V Siahaan depicted many aspects regarding Computer Science Engineering industry, including the necessity for increasing competence in hardskill and softskill, self and company’s needs’ knowledge. In addition, Milton stressed that students as prospective professionals avoid keeping being in comfort zone while at workplace. Indeed, every alumni needs to set up his or her new career plan by accepting new challenges and opportunities.
Meanwhile, Deni Lumbantoruan was more likely to put emphasis on the students’ readiness for entering into workplace. Every student was advised to aware and use digital resources on the Internet to enhance his or her capacity and quality. All students should spare their time to dig as much information as possible so that their perspective and knowledge broaden. Moreover, Deni emphasized students to be more critical and assertive in speaking, questioning, answering and making argumentation.
