Wednesday, July 27th, 2016, the Civil Servants and Heads of Villages of Toba Samosir joined Training Socialization on Information Technology and Communication for the Village Officials at Institut Teknologi Del (IT Del). This socialization was attended by the Vice Regent of Toba Samosir, Hulman Sitorus, Kasat Reskrim Polres Toba Samosir, AKP M. Nainggolan, Head of BPMPD Toba Samosir, Wasir Simanjuntak, the Head of Del Foundation in North Sumatera, Partumpuan Naiborhu, and The Third Vice Rector IT Del Deni Lumbantoruan.

The socialization was a series of cooperation between Toba Samosir local government and IT Del to promote the capacity of human resources in Information Technology and Communication. This event preceded Training on Information Technology and Communication to be held at IT Del for the village’s civil servants a few weeks later. As we know, villages in Tobasa regency are highly potential, so it should be managed and developed to give added values for the community. Toba Samosir actually has produced numerous creative products in industrial scale apart from having rich culture and treasure. Such potential remains hidden because the people, especially the village officials still lack in Information Technology and Communication skill. This obstacle was described by the Vice Regent of Toba Samosir Hulman Sitorus, who also admitted how information technology and communication skills were essential to be applied in villages to ease services and information dissemination to public. In this case, of course, the village officials must be capable of being focal players.

The profile of training on Information Technology and Communication for the Village Officials will soon be held a few days ahead as a cooperation between the local government of Toba Samosir and IT Del. Deni explained how the village officials would get advantages due to their improved ability in Information Technology and Communication. In that relation, according to Deni, the Training on Information Technology and Communication for the Village Officials would be delivered in theory and direct practice, focusing on introducing the benefits of information technology and communication, increasing the ability of officials joining the training in information and communication, and building people’s awareness especially village officials on the importance of village information system as a part of serving people.
