Laguboti, www.del.ac.id – INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI DEL held new students’ inauguration and the 17th of graduation ceremony from September 7-8, 2018. Around 440 new students were inaugurated and 266 Bachelor (undergraduate) and Diploma students were graduated in the ceremony. In the event, Institut Teknologi Del hosted an honorary visit of the Chinese Ambassador Mr. Xiao Qian, the U.S. Ambassador Mr. Joseph R. Donovan Jr, the Minister of Research and Higher Education Prof. H. Mohamad Nasir, Ak, Ph.D and Coordinating Minister of Maritime and Resources Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. The activity was held in Gedung Serba Guna of Del Foundation in Sitoluama village, Laguboti. The theme of the graduation ceremony in that time was Towards Noble Institutional Transformation with the sub theme Learning Innovation in The Industrial Age 4.0 : Empowering Human Through Integration of Education and Technology.

Friday, September 7th,  2018, the Chinese Ambassador Mr Xiao Qian was present in the event to give his remarks. The Ambassador of the Republic of China, Mr Xiao Qian in his remarks gave messages for IT Del students to be the future generation who were MarTuhan (have faith in the Almighty God), Marroha (wise and expert in their specialty), and Marbisuk (have a wide perspective).” As the manifestation of the country’s support, in the occassion Mr Xioa Qian offered IT Del education supporting programs, which would be first, students’ exchange program and scholarships to the best IT Del students to continue their study in Tiongkok. Also, Mr Xiao Qian promised to distribute books and tablets to support daily teaching at IT Del.

In similar event, Mr. Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan (Coordinating Minister of Maritime and Resources) as IT Del founder spoke to the new students in order for them to live discipline life. “Discipline is the core of your future,” he said. He also motivated them not to feel inferior despite their parents’ economic situation. “Never be ashamed of ourselves. My father was once a driver of Sibual buali, and my mother did not even graduate from elementary school. In spite of that, such condition should trigger your spirit to become more successful and reach bigger things. So, never ever feel humiliated because of your parents’ condition.”

In his remarks, Prof .Ir. Togar M. Simatupang, M.Tech., Ph.D. (Rector of Institut Teknologi Del) reminded that currently, students have been demanded not only live independently but also get used to managing time, space, money and physics in more effective ways. The limited three or four years study time should be used for building strong, integrity-oriented and competent characters. Meanwhile, the alumni should commit to a lifetime learning since it is the key preparation for the next generation in Revolution 4.0 times to enhance them as advanced learners who are coping with rapid paced changing technology. At last, he messaged the graduates to uphold the good name of Institut Teknologi Del as a big family by continuing to manifest MarTuhan, Marroha and Marbisuk virtues whereever they are.
