D-IV study program in Informatics Engineering is a study program operated by Del Institute of Technology (IT Del) since 2012 in line with the Decree No. 238/E/O/2012 on July 6th, 2012 under the name of  Informatics Engineering study program. Its address is on Sisingamangaraja Street, Sitoluama, Laguboti sub-district, Toba Samosir, North Sumatera around 200 km (five hour car trip) more and less from Medan, the capital city of the province of North Sumatera.

According to the Minister’s Decree No. 232/U/2000, Diploma IV (D-IV) program aims to produce the graduates who possess the ability in carrying out complex jobs based on special professional skills, including skills for planning, individual problem solving to the certain extent, managing, and adaptation to the development, knowledge and technology of its proficiency.

In general, the profile of D4 Informatics Engineering in Software Engineering is those who:

  1. possess the ability and skills for developing a high quality software based on right software development life cycle accompanied with good documentation
  2. have high initiative and creativity in studying or solving each case as well as wrap it up into communicative information.
  3. able to adapt to technology development and implement more complex jobs based on deeper analysis
  4. possess individual management, planning, problem solving abilities
  5. acquire required softskill, discipline and professional work ethics


The graduates from D-IV  study program in Software Engineering are expected to possess this competence:

      1. The knowledge of Software Engineering:
        • able to identify software needs based on analysis and design for a big-scale system/application
        • able to develop software based on the direction of software architect
        • able to apply high-skilled knowledge and application for software engineering as well as to understand important professional issues as the basis of a software engineer’s attitudes in designing solutions for varied domains of application by using software engineering approach and capability of integrating ethical, social, legal and economic issues
      2. The competence in management, leadership and entrepreneurship
        • to possess better self-work reliance than D3 graduates.
        • able to work individually and in teamwork to develop and produce good software and its artifacts
        • to have the ability in completing projects and their problems by making adjustments with the budget, time, knowledge, system and organization limitations
        • to demonstrate comprehension and appreciation for the importance of negotiation, effective work habit, leadership, and good communication with stakeholders in the environment of certain software
        • to acquire the ability to learn new models, techniques and technology as well as appreciate for the need of sustainable professional development
