The JTenun research team met the Rector of Del Institute of Technology (IT Del) Prof. Roberd Saragih and his aides on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at IT Del campus. Present were the research partner of Piksel Indonesia. In that meeting the team chair Dr. Arlinta C. Barus summed about Jtenun research, funded by RISPRO LPDP program “Smart Software for Nusantara motifs.

Arlinta described that the objective of JTenun research was to develop smart applicaiton softwares for creating new and varied motifs inspired by those of the islands of Indonesia. The application softwares are being designed to consist of a classifying feature for nusantara motif like Bataknese traditional cloth/ulos, Central Java and Kalimantan tenun, and etc. In addition, a feature for translating a design into a sketch is being developed to help weavers.

The reseach involving researchers from IT Del, ITB and Piksel Indonesia partner was warmly welcomed and well-appreciated by the Rector of  IT Del Prof. Roberd Saragih. As he said, such research engaging multi disciplines would promote the country’s national cultural heritage like bataknese traditional cloth and woven fabrics from other areas, so the world could learn more about the heritage.
