On Saturday, May 28th, 2016, Minister of State-Owned Enterprise Rini Soemarno, CEO of BNI Achmad Baiquni, CEO of Pertamina Dwi Soetjipto, CEO of BRI Asmawi Syam, CEO of Bank Mandiri Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, and CEO of PTPN 3 Massa Manik with their aides called on Institut Teknologi Del in Sitoluama, Laguboti. Her visit with her aides to IT Del was part of the activities held by the Department of State-Owned Enterprise in Parapat on that day.
Minister Rini Soemarno and her aides were warmly welcomed by Head of Del Foundation Branch North Sumatera Ir. Partumpuan Naiborhu and the Vice Rector of IT Del Deni Lumbantoruan. The first agenda was to have a tour around IT Del campus, resumed with listening to a remark from the Head of Del Foundation Branch North Sumatera and a short presentation on IT Del from the third Vice Rector. In his presentation, Vice Rector 3 of IT Del, Deni Lumbantoruan gave a brief on IT Del’s establishment in that rural area near Lake Toba. It was emphasized that IT Del was established by the Founder’s idealism and aspiration to reduce asymmetric condition of higher education between that in Java and outside of the Island. Furthermore, there was a profiling of IT Del students and lecturers in the presentation along with that of IT Del alumni, widely known to have worked in various places across Indonesia and overseas.
At the end of the event, the Minister of State-Owned Enterprise Rini Soemarno gave her brief remark. She told the audience that the activity which was then conducted by the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprise in Parapat was an annual agenda to consolidate companies under the Ministry. Also, it had a goal to support the government’s program to empower Lake Toba’s tourism potentials. She continued by giving appreciation and compliments on the establishment of IT Del, which had existed with all of its achievements for 15 years. She hoped that IT Del would be able keep surviving in the coming years. At last, she also looked forward to having a collaboration chance with IT Del for improving the quality of education in rural areas.
