In the technical training, Engineering Management students with their supervising lecturer Ricardo Situmeang. S.Psi, MA were given an opportunity to present their final assignment paper entitled ” SWOT Analysis and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) for Government’s Program Implementation in Coffee Productivity and Value Increase in Toba Samosir regency”  for 15 minutes in front of the participants.

The research found the level of coffee productivity in Toba Samosir has been lower than national standard for the productivity level. The main reason causing the problem is the lack of farming tools and substance (fertilizer, high quality seeds, scissors, etc) in Habinsaran, Tampahan, and Silaen sub-districts. In addition, farmers in Lumban Julu cannot afford prices of the substance, while Ajibata farmers have a problem with the distance from cooperation to planting area. Appropriate treatments should increase the productivity level of coffee farm in Toba Samosir also making Tobasa coffee well-known more.

The two-day technical training was resumed with a field visiting to the coffee farm in Lase, Motung village, Ajibata sub-district of Toba Samosir. Later, at night there was be a short coffee brewing training by Agusnur S.

Such training is expected to enhance continued collaboration among Ministry of Agriculture, academicians, Office for Agriculture, Coffee Farmers Association and the business. Viva Toba Samosir coffee.
